En los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os, varios cient\u00edficos nacionales reconocidos como Jorge Cort\u00e9s, Odalisca Breedy y toda una nueva generaci\u00f3n de cient\u00edficos, han hecho una labor investigativa que ha dejado a todos maravillados con la incre\u00edble biodiversidad que existe mas all\u00e1 de nuestro imaginario, en esas zonas abisales costarricenses. Carlos Hiller tuvo la oportunidad de tener su estudio de arte en el laboratorio principal a bordo del Falkor (too). El barco cuenta con el imponente ROV llamado SuBastian (submarino de investigaci\u00f3n operado remotamente), capaz de descender hasta 4500 metros de profundidad, el cual se convirti\u00f3 en casi una obsesi\u00f3n para Hiller. A trav\u00e9s de sus c\u00e1maras y transmisi\u00f3n en directo se sinti\u00f3 como un explorador de una Costa Rica hasta ahora totalmente desconocida; Nemo en el Nautilus, su fantas\u00eda de ni\u00f1o. Es all\u00ed, frente al descubrimiento de una colonia de pulpos con las hembras cuidando de sus huevos y el ocasional nacimiento de peque\u00f1os pulpos cr\u00edas, donde se inspiraron las primeras obras pict\u00f3ricas de la expedici\u00f3n.
